Enjoy pure relaxation in the recently modernised main house. With a well-equipped kitchen, a bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet, and four beds in two bedrooms, it has everything you need for a comfortable break.

From almost every room you look straight out over the water – the view is at its best over dinner in the living room. The Swedish country feel comes not least from the solid Swedish floorboards throughout.

If you need to work at the computer during your holiday, there is good Wi-Fi in the house. A modern television makes for relaxed evenings with your favourite apps – you will need your own login.

Small guest house – “Lillstugan”

Experience Swedish cosiness at its best in our charming white guest house. Its 15 m² make a snug retreat with two comfortable beds – ideal for teenagers, friends, couples, or anyone after a little more privacy.

There are power sockets and heating. Outside the door is a small wooden terrace under an apple tree. The shower and toilet are in the main house.

Our black holiday house at the edge of the woods offers plenty of room and flexibility across 30 m², with three single beds and a sofa bed. It is the perfect addition for larger families or groups who want to spread out across the property.

The terrace catches the morning sun and has a wonderful view of the lake. For extra comfort inside, the house has its own washbasin and a camping toilet. The shower is next door, in the fully renovated main house.

Lake view

From various spots in the house and around the property you have a wonderful view over Lake Vänern.

Kitchen and cooking

Fully fitted kitchen with hob, oven and a large fridge with freezer compartment. Filter coffee machine, kettle, toaster and microwave. Dishwasher, with tablets to get you started.

Basics

Herbs and spices, oil, salt and pepper, plus plenty of crockery, cutlery and glasses.

Wood-burning stove

For cosy evenings in the main house. Firewood provided on request.

Entertainment

Smart TV with streaming apps – you will need your own login. Plus a selection of board games.

Wi-Fi

There is a router with Wi-Fi in the main house and in the large guest house, Skogsstugan. You can also connect a laptop straight to the router with a network cable there – for fast work.

Sleeping

Good mattresses, arranged either as a double or as single beds. Duvets and pillows are provided in all three houses.

Bed linen and towels

Not included in the price. Please bring both yourself. Pillows are the Swedish standard size of 50 × 60 cm, duvets 155 × 200 cm.

Bathroom

A modern bathroom with shower, toilet and washbasin in the main house, plus a hairdryer. Skogsstugan also has its own washbasin and a camping toilet.

Laundry

Washing machine, clothes airer, ironing board and iron are provided.

Outdoors

Terraces with a lake view, a barbecue area and fire pit, garden furniture and sun loungers. A classic charcoal grill for summer evenings.

Parking

Right by the house, with space for two to three cars.

Canoes

Two canoes are available free of charge as a courtesy, including paddles and buoyancy aids. Use is at your own risk – see the terms for details.

No pets

We love animals, but we also want guests with allergies to be able to stay. So we are sorry, but we cannot allow pets.

Non-smoking houses

Smoking is not permitted in any of the three houses.

No sauna

We do not have one – but the lake is about 50 metres from the door.

The setting

On Sweden's largest lake

Vänern is the largest lake in Sweden and the third largest in Europe. From our property it is about 50 metres to the swimming spot – a concrete jetty with a chain railing and a shallow entry over gravel.

We are near Vänersborg in Västra Götaland. The table mountains Halleberg and Hunneberg are close by; they are known for their elk population.

It is 9.4 km to the centre of Vänersborg, 9 km to the ICA Kvantum supermarket, 21 km to Trollhättan and 93 km to Gothenburg.

What guests ask most often

How many people can stay?

Up to 10. Four in the main house Solhuset, two in Lillstugan, three in Skogsstugan plus a sofa bed of 140 × 200 cm.

Does each house have its own bathroom?

No. The shower, toilet and washbasin are in the main house and shared by everyone. Skogsstugan also has its own washbasin and a camping toilet. Lillstugan has no bathroom of its own.

How far is it to the water?

About 50 metres to the swimming spot. There is a concrete jetty with a chain railing and a shallow entry over gravel.

Is bed linen included?

No. Duvets and pillows are provided, but you need to bring bed linen and towels yourself. Pillows are the Swedish standard size of 50 × 60 cm, duvets 155 × 200 cm.

Are dogs or other pets allowed?

No. We want guests with allergies to be able to stay too, so we cannot allow animals.

Is smoking allowed?

No, all three houses are non-smoking.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes. There is a router with Wi-Fi in the main house and in the large guest house, Skogsstugan. You can also connect a laptop straight to the router with a network cable there, if you need speed for working.

Can you swim in Lake Vänern?

Yes. In July and August the water is usually around 19 °C.

How do you get there?

The nearest airport is Gothenburg Landvetter, about 110 km away; Vänersborg centre is 9.4 km, Trollhättan 21 km and Gothenburg 93 km. Driving from continental Europe, the route runs via the E45 through Denmark, for example Hamburg – Flensburg – Kolding – Odense – Copenhagen – Malmö – Gothenburg, crossing the Great Belt and Øresund bridges; from Hamburg the drive takes around 10 hours. Ferries are an alternative, for instance Puttgarden–Rødby or from Frederikshavn or Helsingør.
